“The star of this production, if indeed a CD should have a star, is conductor Oundjian who has a wonderful feel for the Vaughan Williams idiom… Oundjian gives us music that is consistently lovely without exaggeration or any unwanted urgency. He lets it unfold, and the music does the rest…”

"This is the first volume in a series to explore the wind quintets of Telemann. On the evidence of this release, the series will open up to us a fascinating corner of the composer's instrumental writing... The performers here so a splendid job and make me eager for further volumes in this series."

"... Despite the formalities of the liturgical context, these cantatas are relatively easy-going, the arias in particular full of sprightly and engaging melody... The singers are young and fresh-voices and deliver very accomplished work... Definitely worth the attention of Telemann collectors, and also to be considered by general collectors of Baroque music."

“… Aside from their beauty, the pieces are superbly scored and son’t waste a note in padding. The playing by the soloists and the Aarhus Orchestra is uniformly urbane and tasteful. Ringborg’s conducting lets this wholesome music speak for itself. This is Vol. 1 of a projected 3; I await the other two.”

“… this is novel and engaging. Spohr wrote these sonatas for his wife Dorette, who played the single-action harp … Masumi Nagasawa performs on just such an instrument here … in her solo passages, she is quite assured and is perhaps more virtuosic than many harpists, but she gets overshadowed when Cecilia Bernardini joins in… The violin passages are melodic and written with an inventiveness that belies Sphor’s status as a “second-tier composer”… I am pleasantly surprised; as the recital goes on I find myself liking this music more and more, and have already returned to it a number of times…”
