For those pieces still missing from the complete recording, the Heidelberger Sinfoniker have been proceeding since Volume 25 in chronological order, to better chart the development of Joseph Haydn the composer. We are thus in the midst of a young, wild Haydn, a Sturm und Drang Haydn. “Heidelberg Haydn is a paradigm of dynamism, freshness, wildness, humour and constant surprise. I am glad we are continuing the journey, completing the cycle. My musical encounters with the Heidelberger Sinfoniker have always been journeys into happiness. Idealism, love of music and technical perfection join forces here with the will to create something really special. Which is exactly right for the symphonic world of Joseph Haydn. I look towards the future in eager anticipation!” - Johannes Klumpp

“… Another stylish addition to this tantalising (if occasionally idiosyncratic) cycle.”
David Threasher – Gramophone magazine – April 2023
“… With this already 27th recording in the series, the Heidelberg Symphony Orchestra and its conductor Johannes Klumpp continue to show through the Sturm und Drang works of Haydn. Their approach is in keeping with this, in which they tread this path together full of verve and dynamism. They succeed in teasing out facets and details from the early works. They do justice to the dynamics of the fast movements with fresh access as well as to the rhetorically formulated slow passages. The stormy and urgent playing is particularly well suited to these works.” ****
