For this violin sonata as well as for the Opus 120, originally for clarinet, Wallfisch and York readjusted existing transcriptions to remove weaknesses and incorrect adaptations. Their performances shed new light on these compositions without denying their special character. In the Opus 78, they succeed in emphasizing its light-filled positive energy. And at the same time, with the new character of the string part, they open up a convincing new level of warmth.
