The music performed on this new recording of Russian Orthodox choral music comprises works of many great Russian composers, all celebrating the theme of Russian Orthodox hymns dedicated to the Virgin Mary.

The album is a wonderful introduction to the golden age of Russian church music. Jermihov and the PaTRAM Institute Singers are ideal ambassadors of a grand tradition.” James V Maiello
“… glowingly recommended.” James A Altena
"... strongly recommended." Daniel Morrison
"... this is a phenomenal achievement, bound to expand any collection of modern Slavonic chant." J F Weber

“… This is an excellent recital. I’ve mentioned only a few of the pieces but I would ask readers to take on trust that the items which haven’t received a specific mention are equally fine and eloquent. Also, please take on trust that the unmentioned works are performed to the same very high standard as the works that I’ve specifically referenced. The singing throughout this disc is of an extremely high quality. Not only does the choir sound superb, but they also evidence great commitment to the music. This is singing from the heart.”

“… The recording itself is dedicated to the memory of Protopresbyter Valery Lukianov, and includes a favourite hymn of his – In the Flesh Thou Didst Fall Asleep - and his own son, Alexis Lukianov, intoning Chesnokov’s deeply moving Memory Eternal with such a powerful and resonant profundo at its lowest imaginable that I marvel that anybody could possibly make such a wonderful noise so deep sown in their register. Frankly, this recording would be worth buying for this magical example of true profundo singing on its own, but, in their own way, every single track (including the opening burst of carillon bells from the St Alexander Nevsky Diocesan Cathedral’s bell-ringer, Peter Lukianov) is worth hearing.”
