Winner of ABBIATI DISCO 2022 Award
From the jury: For the confidence and intelligence with which Andrea Molino conducts the La Fenice ensembles, who prove equal to the challenging task; like the quartet of soloists. A very significant testimony is the live recording of the first performance of Bruno Maderna’s Requiem (1945-46). A failed plan to perform the work in the United States resulted in the disappearance of the score, which Maderna became disinterested in, having become one of the protagonists of the radical renewal of musical language after World War II. For decades considered lost, then re-discovered by Veniero Rizzardi, the Requiem was confirmed as Maderna’s most important early work, attentive to the lesson of Stravinsky and Hindemith, but rich in ideas and open to an expressive urgency of tragic tension.
