Alessandro Taverna
Born in Venice, Alessandro Taverna studied with Laura Candiago Ferrari at the Scuola di Musica Santa Cecilia, in Portogruaro, and with Franco Scala at the Accademia Internazionale di Imola. He then specialised with Sergio Perticaroli at the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, in Rome, William Grant Naboré at the Accademia Internazionale del Pianoforte Lago di Como, and Arie Vardi at the Hochschule für Musik, Theater und Medien Hannover. He established his international career by winning major prizes at the Minnesota International Piano-e-Competition, London International Piano Competition, Leeds International Piano Competition, and Ferruccio Busoni International Piano Competition. Since then, he has performed in some of the most important concert venues, including Teatro alla Scala, Milan, Teatro San Carlo, Naples, Teatro La Fenice, Venice, Wiener Musikverein, Wigmore Hall and Royal Festival Hall, London, Konzerthaus Berlin, Gasteig München, Bridgewater Hall, Manchester, Liverpool Philharmonic Hall, Morton H. Meyerson Symphony Center, Dallas, DR Koncerthuset, Copenhagen, and Tokyo Metropolitan Theatre. Under distinguished conductors such as Carlo Boccadoro, Roland Böer, Riccardo Chailly, Myung-whun Chung, Thierry Fischer, Claus Peter Flor, Hartmut Haenchen, Daniel Harding, Fabio Luisi, Lorin Maazel, Michele Mariotti, Ryan McAdams, Gianandrea Noseda, Donato Renzetti, Daniele Rustioni, Yutaka Sado, and Joshua Weilerstein, he has played with such prestigious ensembles as the Orchestra Filarmonica della Scala, Orchestra dell’Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, Orchestra Sinfonica Nazionale della RAI, and all the major Italian orchestras, the Münchner Philharmoniker, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Dallas Symphony Orchestra, Minnesota Orchestra, Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, NHK Symphony Orchestra, Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, George Enescu Philharmonic Orchestra, Scottish Chamber Orchestra, and Malta Philharmonic Orchestra. Alessandro Taverna teaches at the Accademia Internazionale di Imola ‘Incontri con il Maestro’ and at the Conservatorio Statale di Musica ‘Cesare Pollini’, in Padua. The Italian President, Giorgio Napolitano, awarded him the ‘Premio Presidente della Repubblica’ in 2012 for his artistic achievements and international career. In April 2021, he was appointed Artistic Director of the Festival Internazionale di Musica di Portogruaro.
