Alfonso Alberti
Born in 1976, Alfonso Alberti studied piano at the Conservatorio 'G. Verdi' di Milano with Piero Rattalino and Riccardo Risaliti, graduating with the highest honors, and attended advanced courses held by M. Damerini, R. Tureck, F. Scala, V. Tropp and T. Zelikman. He first performed in the 'Sala Verdi del Conservatorio of Milano at seventeen, playing Rachmaninov's Fourth Concerto with the 'RAI Orchestra'. Subsequently he has given recitals and concerts playing with various orchestras ( RAI Orchestra, Orchestra dei Pomeriggi Musicali, Orchestra Haydn di Bolzano, Or-chestra di Stato di Vidin) both in Italy and abroad (France, Austria, Bulgaria, Russia) and has won awards in national and international competitions, including the 'E. Pozzoli' competition held in Seregno and the 'O. Messiaen' competition in Paris. He was the first to perform works for piano only by J. Baboni Schilingi, G. Shohat, Y. Sugiyama, L. Manfrin, P. Furlan, R. Rimoldi and others. He has led him to perform keyboard improvisations in Hymnen by K. Stockhausen (performance in Milan, 2001 with soloists) and as a microphonist in Mikrophonie 1 by the same author (performed in 2003). He has played with famous musicians including the flautist, P. Y. Artaud, and his per-formances have been warmly received by Gustav Kuhn and George Benjamin. He regularly col-laborates with the 'Ensemble Risognanze', and the 'Mdi Ensemble' and occasionally with many other groups. Since 2000 the 'Ensemble Risognanze' has been a regular guest on HYPERLINK.at" Tiroler Festspiele Erl. The staging of the opera, 'Luci mie traditrici' by Salvatore Sciarrino, grew out of this collaboration and met with enormous success and critical acclaim. Giulia Lazzarini, Ot-tavia Piccolo, Luisa Castellani, Omar Zoboli and Ruggero Laganà are among the artist who have collaborated with the Ensemble. The 'Mdi Ensemble' has given concerts in major Italian locations and participated in many well-known concert series, such as Mittelfest 2002 and the festivals: Mi-lano Musica 2002, 2003, 2004. In addition, both well known composers and orchestra leaders such as Liza Lim, Gabriele Manca, Misato Mochizuki, Gerard Pésson have collaborated with the Mdi Ensemble performing concerts and participating together with them in seminars and workshops One orchestra leader of note, Robert HP Platz, recently directed the Ensemble in a performance that included his own compositions. Along side his work as a pianist Alfonso Alberti is also a music critic . He earned a degree in Musicology at the Conservatorio di Milano obtaining the highest grades cum laude, presenting his thesis on Niccolò Castiglioni, 1950-1966. He has been a member of Accademia di Montegral and of the e Società Italiana di Musicologia since 2005.
