Catrin Finch

A native of Llanon, on the west coast of Wales, Catrin Finch is the most gifted classical harp virtuoso of her generation, grounded in prodigious early achievements and intense classical training, and having served as Royal Harpist to H.R.H. The Prince of Wales in her early twenties. In her classical career, she has performed with many of the world’s finest orchestras, including the New York Philharmonic, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Boston Pops, Academy of St Martin in the Fields, and English Chamber Orchestra. She has graced the stages of international festivals in Salzburg, Edinburgh, and Spoleto, as well as MDR-Musiksommer Leipzig, and has performed extensively throughout the USA, South America, the Middle East, Asia, and Australia, besides Europe, both as a recitalist and as a soloist with top ranked orchestras. She has recorded for the world’s leading classical labels, both solo and with artists such as Bryn Terfel, Sir James Galway, and Julian Lloyd-Webber, achieving chart success with her rendition of Bach’s ‘Goldberg’ Variations. Boundless curiosity and adventurous spirit have led her to musical success across genres, most notably through her collaborations with artists such as the kora maestros Seckou Keita, of Senegal, with whom she won Best Group at the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards 2019, and Toumani Diabaté, of Mali, the Colombian joropo cowboy virtuosos Cimarrón, and, most recently, Ireland’s renowned classical violinist Aoife Ní Bhriain. Catrin Finch is currently Head of Harp at the Royal Academy of Music, London.
