Eugene Asti
One of the most sought after accompanists of his generation, Eugene Asti has performed with great artists such as Dame Felicity Lott, Dame Margaret Price, Sir Willard White and Angelika Kirchschlager in venues that include the Wigmore Hall and Barbican in London, the Vienna Musikverein, Amsterdam Concertgebouw, Kölner Philharmonie, Megaron in Athens, Palais des Beaux-Arts in Brussels, Symphony Hall in Birmingham, and Alice Tully Hall and Carnegie Hall in New York. He also works regularly with Sophie Daneman, Rebecca Evans, Susan Gritton, James Rutherford and other leading young recitalists. For London’s new concert venue King’s Place, due to open in autumn 2008, he has devised a recital series to honour the anniversary of Felix Mendelssohn in 2009, and for Bärenreiter has completed an edition of songs by the composer. He has recorded songs and duets by Felix and Fanny Mendelssohn and the complete songs of Clara Schumann as well as a live recital disc with Sarah Connolly and a disc of the complete songs by Mozart with Sophie Karthäuser and Stephan Loges. Eugene Asti teaches at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and is Vocal Accompaniment Coordinator at Trinity College of Music. He regularly gives master-classes both in the UK and abroad.
