John Lenehan

Praised by The New York Times for his ‘great flair and virtuosity’ and The Times (London), after a concert, for ‘a masterly recital’, John Lenehan has performed throughout the world, from Almaty to Zurich and from Aberdeen to Zimbabwe. As a soloist he has appeared, for example, with the London Symphony Orchestra at the Barbican Centre and Royal Philharmonic Orchestra in the Royal Albert Hall; collaborating with some of the leading instrumentalists of our time, he is recognised as an outstanding and versatile chamber musician. He has recorded more than seventy CDs, covering a huge range of musical styles: duo sonatas by Mozart, Beethoven, and Brahms alongside piano concertos by Michael Nyman and Vaughan Williams, chamber music with the world-renowned Nash Ensemble, and jazz repertoire with the clarinettist Emma Johnson. His four-disc survey of John Ireland’s complete works for piano has received great critical acclaim, including a Gramophone award. This is his third CD with Tasmin Little, a partnership spanning more than two decades. John Lenehan is also a composer, whose works have been published by Faber & Faber, Novello & Co., and Schott Music. He has written and arranged for a long list of acclaimed musicians, including Nigel Kennedy, Nicola Benedetti, Leonidas Kavakos, and Yuja Wang.
