Marco Sollini
Marco Sollini, who has been lauded by critics and fellow musicians for his energy, technique, and sincerity, has performed throughout Europe, United States, Latin America, Indonesia and Africa. In addition to his work as a recitalist, he has performed with many orchestras, including the Dohnányi Symphony Orchestra and Budapest Concert Orchestra (MÁV), the Hungarian State Symphony Orchestra, Stuttgart Philharmonic Orchestra, Slovakian Radio Symphony Orchestra, Ippolitov-Ivanov Orchestra in Moscow, and Radio-Television Symphony Orchestra of Belgrade. He has broadcast for RAI (Italian radio), Radio Vaticana, Tunisian National Radio, Spanish National Radio, Radio France-Culture, Radio Unams of Mexico, and Serbian Radio and Television, among others.
He is particularly interested in rare and unpublished Italian works and has released on CD the premiere recordings of the complete piano works of Puccini, Giordano, Mascagni, Leoncavallo, Bellini, Verdi, Persiani and Offenbach. The German Rossini Society magazine has called his Chandos Rossini piano recordings ‘an exemplary edition’. He was chief editor for the project undertaken by Boccacini & Spada Editori to publish the entire pianistic output of Puccini, Mascagni, Leoncavallo, Bellini and Giordano, besides some previously unpublished works by Rossini and Mascagni.
Marco Sollini combines concert engagements with teaching and is Principal Professor of Pianoforte at the Institute ‘G.B. Pergolesi’ in Ancona where he was Director from 2001 to 2003. He has also taught master-classes at the Arts Academy in Rome and at Lima Conservatory among others. He is artistic director of the Marche Region Music Association, and of the region’s ‘Armonie della sera’ Festival. In 2001 he was awarded an Italian regional ‘Citizen of the Year’ award, and in 2004 he won a TV personality award on the fiftieth anniversary of the founding of Italian television.
