Orsino Ensemble
A chamber group with a flexible format, which according to The Guardian offers ‘all-star playing of the highest level’, the Orsino Ensemble places its central focus on the five outstanding wind players at its core. All leaders in their field, the group’s members are committed to showcasing the depth and versatility of the chamber repertoire for wind, expanding and reducing their format as needed across their different programmes. The Ensemble was founded in 2018 and gave its inaugural performances at the Aldeburgh Festival. Highlights of its calendar to date have included appearances at the Wigmore Hall, LSO St Luke’s, and Sibelius Hall, Helsinki, as well as the West Cork Chamber Music Festival, Chipping Campden Music Festival, Ryedale Festival, and Two Moors Festival, besides a residency weekend at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama. Belle Époque, the Orsino Ensemble’s first recording, featuring French repertoire for winds and piano, was released by Chandos in 2021 to wide critical acclaim, The Guardian praising ‘a disc that beguiles and dazzles in every bar’.
