Pavel Kolesnikov

Described as ‘an engrossing musician’ and ‘a poet of the piano’, Pavel Kolesnikov was the Prize Laureate of the Honens International Piano Competition in 2012, after which, recital and festival appearances followed across North America and Europe. Born in Siberia, he studied at the Moscow State Conservatory, Royal College of Music in London, and Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel in Brussels, and is now based in London. He has performed with the Toronto Symphony Orchestra, Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra, Malta Philharmonic Orchestra, National Philharmonic Orchestra of Russia, Orquestra Sinfônica Brasileira, and orchestras throughout the UK. He has undertaken European tours with the Tchaikovsky Symphony Orchestra, Czech National Symphony Orchestra, and Symfoniorkest Vlaanderen, and made his BBC Proms début performing Tchaikovsky’s Piano Concerto No. 2 with the National Youth Orchestra of Scotland under Ilan Volkov. In London, he performs regularly at the Wigmore Hall and has given recitals at Kings Place and Queen Elizabeth Hall, where he has also appeared as chamber musician with Lawrence Power. He has given recitals in South Korea, Japan, Spain, and Germany, and at the Festival International de Piano de la Roque d’Anthéron, Festival Musiq3 in Brussels, and Aldeburgh Festival. With the Rosas dance company and its founder, Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker, Pavel Kolesnikov has performed Bach’s Goldberg Variations in Vienna, Brussels, Bruges, and Seville.
