Doyen
Doyen Recordings was originally established by the world-famous euphonium virtuosi, brothers Nicholas and Robert Childs in 1988 with the ambition of offering the music lover quality recordings of the world's finest brass performers. Such has been the success of Doyen in recording the very best of brass music, whether in traditional brass band format, as brass ensembles, dedicated solo albums or in individual composer recordings, that critics have paid keen tribute to their fundamental philosophy of putting the music and quality first.
Since 2010 Doyen has been part of the World of Brass family, who have continued the label’s original ethos whilst developing the catalogue to included contemporary artists such as David Thornton, Philip Cobb, Glenn van Looy and Tom Hutchinson, alongside established series such as the Black Dyke Gold and annual highlights albums from major band contests.
Doyen continues to present recorded performances of extraordinary quality as well as being committed to bringing to a wider audience exceptionally challenging new music from the most talented composers in their field.
Along with its sister label, World of Brass, whose primary focus is on Brass Videos from contests such as the European Brass Band Championships, the label continues to develop with high resolution recordings being offered as standard and the back catalogue being increasingly made available for download.
