Solo:Jean-Efflam Bavouzet piano
12-14 July 2007
Notes
DEBUSSY: COMPLETE WORKS FOR PIANO, VOL. 2 This is Jean-Efflam Bavouzet's second volume of Debussy's piano music and includes Images (oubliées), Estampes and L'Isle joyeuse, all representing a perhaps more reflective vein in Debussy's compositional output. Bavouzet is a supreme interpreter of Debussy's music, as The Sunday Times notes: 'Bavouzet has taken his time before committing his interpretations to disc but here he announces himself a peerless Debussyite... Bavouzet's command of touch, colour, and rhythmic vitality are all that one could ask for.' Listen out for the Classic FM interview with Bavouzet timed to coincide with this release.

Review for the Debussy series CHAN 10421, 10467, 10443, 10497 & 10545
"Debussy playing does not come any better than this, and anyone starting to collect this excellent Chandos series need not really look any further. The CDs are available separately each in turn was given a ’Gramophone Award"
The Pengiun Guide – 1000 Greatest Classical Recordings 2011-12
"I had the highest praise for Jean-Efflam Bavouzet’s first volume of Debussy, and the present disc is fully the equal of that one in terms of colour, refinement of touch, spontaneity and technical finish… Bavouzet has written that his Debussy playing has been influenced by that of Gieseking, Michelangeli and Richter. You may hear something of each of these pianists in his playing but more that that you will heart his own distinctive and special voice."

Diapason d’Or de L'Anné 2008
Sound: 4/5
Diapason magazine (France)
"This second volume of Jean-Efflam Bavouzet’s Debussy cycle reveals the intelligence of his programming. A trio of three-movement works is at its heart, but the disc opens and closes with two further triptychs, pseudo-cycles of contemporaneous pieces usually heard in isolation. Bavouzet’s strengths are also to the fore, with glowing colours in the opening Ballade and Valse romantique followed by sparkling elegance in the Danse."
