Jansons’s Tchaikovsky series, which includes the symphony Manfred, is self-recommending. The full romantic power of the music is consistently conveyed and, above all, the music making is urgently spontaneous throughout, with the Oslo Philharmonic always committed and fresh, helped by richly atmospheric Chandos sound. A supreme bargain.

If you want all the symphonies, you would be better getting http://www.theclassicalshop.net/Details.aspx?CatalogueNumber=CHAN%2010392M. This is essentially the same recording but costs less and is available in lossless format as opposed to only mp3. I thought I was getting all the works for £5, (which would have been a bargain), but I only received the first disc. The formatting is different between these two web pages and I was misled by the website.
The tracks I did download have corrupt title information which is a further annoyance.
I am going to buy the other version instead, and there are good bargains available for the real CD which make it cheaper than downloading!
