"Sunhae Im, a favorite in the world of Baroque and classical music, gives us a lovely program of arias and scenes centered around Dido and her abandonment by Aeneas... Im has a fresh, winning sound that she deploys colorfully in these works. She can move up and down the stairs quickly when she needs to (as Eileen Farrell used to say), but most of the works here are of a reflective nature and only call for mild agility. She interpolates a number of strong low notes into some of the selections that I found impressive from a singer who makes her living as a soprano... there's no denying her commitment to this music and the texts. Andreas Kuppers is an excellent collaborator, and the Teatro del Mondo offers colorful accompaniment."
