Notes
Guild Light Music’s second collection from the 1930s is a response to the warm welcome accorded to the first volume (GL5106). This time the scope has been extended to include several famous continental ensembles, and well as some top names from Britain and the USA. Henry Hall, Debroy Somers and Sidney Torch join Harry Horlick, Barnabas von Geczy, Marek Weber, Edith Lorand and many others to provide a genuine ’snapshot’ of a fascinating musical era. There is also a long-forgotten Ray Noble medley from the show "Mr Whittington" - part of which was recorded in experimental stereo back in 1934. This rare item is included as a ’bonus’ track.

This is a fine addition to the Light Music series that Guild has embarked upon. As for the recordings, they have been well cleaned up. As a rule I do not go for ‘historical recordings’, however this release gives me no problems with my listening pleasure.

The real corker on this CD is the reproduction of a rare experimental stereo track from the legendary Alan Blumlein’s efforts to record two-channel sound. This is surely one of the most important discoveries in the field of light music and all classical music in general and should serve as a stimulus for those who have such important material in their to release it to the public" "a wonderful collection of music.
