About
Corelli’s pupil Francesco Geminiani moved to England in 1714, where he remained, apart from visits to Dublin, for the rest of his life. His reputation was established as a teacher, composer and virtuoso violinist, and not so much as a keyboardist. Yet, in 1743 he published his Pieces de clavecin: these are highly skilful adaptations of music that the composer had written earlier, mainly vor violin and continuo. Scents of Rameau or Scarlatti can be heard here and there. Fabio Bonizzoni plays with his usual vitality and expressive charm.
