Born in Roubaix in 1820, Gustave Nadaud is, with Béranger, one of the famous songwriter of the 19th century. His songs, much appreciated in the ’bourgeois salons’, are also popular in the little clubs and cabarets all over France. As a caricaturist, Nadaud uses his eloquence and humour in the composition of political songs always falsely naïve.
The art of the songwriters that spreads into the whole society, request from the interpret a commitment comparable to the one practiced in baroque music. Work on improvisation, theatrical interpretation, art of the gesture. In a text-song, the important part is never written on the music sheets. It is a work on the vocal performance that Arnaud Marzorati, passionate of the French song history, accomplishes like nobody else.
