"Curiously, the project to record the Vivaldi sonatas began with a recording I did with Amandine Beyer and Gli Incogniti called Nuova Stagione on which there were several cello concertos. While making the recording, I had the opportunity to meet Franck Jaffrès who was the A&R director. Later he contacted me and invited me to record a CD of Vivaldi cello sonatas.
I grew up in Italian orchestras like Academia Montis Regalis where Vivaldi was the ordre du jour. After spending ten years with Italian orchestras playing Italian operas, sacred music and instrumental music and having accompanied many Baroque musicians like Amandine Beyer, Enrico Onofri, Riccardo Minasi, etc., it was very easy to play the works of Vivaldi. It didn’t take much effort because I had acquired so much experience working with so many great musicians and all that Vivaldian experience I easily transferred to the cello." - Marco Ceccato
