On the latest single from percussionist Colin Currie, the power and beauty of the marimba are brought to life through a soulful, understated composition by Bryce Dessner.

'Tromp Miniature' is a work for solo marimba, commissioned in 2014 by the TROMP International Percussion Competition in Eindhoven. From its sweetly simple opening, the piece becomes awash with lyricism and tension, before ending with a peaceful lullaby.

This gentle marimba gem became the centre of a unique recording project for Colin, who performed the work at home during lockdown. Now, as we move beyond our memories of isolation onto a more wholesome chapter in music-making, Colin's performance captures the reflective and nostalgic nature of this transitional moment in time.
