About
The CD Favourite Carols from King’s is a collection of the most popular carols featured in A Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols over the years. Highlights include ’Once in Royal David’s City’ with the opening verse sung by treble Adam Banwell, ’In the Bleak Midwinter’ with the solo performed by bass Hugo Herman-Wilson, and ’Hark! The Herald Angels Sing’. The tracks were all recorded this year and provide a survey of the King’s Christmas tradition and a snapshot of the choir as it is today.
The service includes favourite carols and lessons in the spectacular setting of King’s College Chapel.

Reviews
" ... beautifully sung..."
David Cairns - The Sunday Times (Culture magazine) - 21 Decmeber 2014
"... Throughout, the singing is both immaculate and full of unexaggerated expression – the buoyancy of Ding, Dong, Merrily on High is an unmitigated delight, and the rapt mood of Silent Night in Stephen Cleobury’s arrangement demonstrate the undoubted quality of this choir… This disc will be widely welcomed, not least for capturing the unique acoustic qualities of King’s so well."
International Record Review
Performance **** Recording ****
"... the equivalent of seasonal comfort listening, one familiary tune after another warming the senses as mulled wine warms the palate."
Terry Blain - BBC Music magazine (Christmas Choice) - Christmas 2014
